Title: Multistep alpha transfer in elastic 16O+12C scattering
Abstract: The extensive elastic 16O+12C scattering data at energies lower than 20 MeV/u show an oscillating enhancement at backward angles in the cross section. Since 16O is well known to have a 12C+α cluster structure, the elastic α transfer contribution may explain these oscillations in cross section data. To investigate the impact of multistep α transfer processes in elastic 16O+12C scattering, we performed a coupled reaction channels (CRC) analysis with up to 10 channels using potentials from the double-folding model. The α spectroscopic factors are given by large-scale shell model under the Fliessbach definition. In this presentation, I will describe the method and results from the CRC calculations and the implications for nuclear cluster structure studies.
